The master of your CD or DVD disk, is of the utmost importance for replication or duplication. Here are some tips which may help you create a high quality master disc: 1. Always use the highest quality discs that you can obtain. Do your research, take your time, then choose a brand that will produce a high quality disc each and every time you duplicate or replicate. 2. Avoid copying from a network source if at all possible. If the source files for your disk are on a network drive then copy the files to your computer before you burn a disc. If you can't, try using the copy to hard drive first feature. When doing this, your burning software will create a temporary image file during the burning process. Once the burning has been completed, it will delete the temporary file. 3. Avoid burning on a laptop computer that is low on battery power. The fluctuations that will occur in the available battery power may cause poor results. 4. Ensure that you finalise your disc. If you fail to finalise, the disc may not play back. Finalising will also help increase the reading compability in other CD-ROM drives. 5. Never use the packet writing method to burn a master disc. 6. Avoid any type of impact or movement of the drive when burning. Movement can cause the laser to skip or jump tracks which in turn may lead to errors or a bad disc. 7. Use the "burn-proof" feature if possible. This will allow the drive to slow down the burn speed if your computer can't supply data fast enough. It may increase the burn time but the quality of the disc will be enhanced. 8. Avoid having multiple applications open when burning. This can adversely affect your computer's ability to supply data to the burner.

Moving away from the monitor in any way causes the monitor to black out! Various models offer different viewing angles horizontally and vertically. Find the one better suited to your funds! In any case, for a home PC, the viewing angle doesnt make much difference but if the monitor is going to be used for official presentations then it should have viewing angle of at least 120 degrees horizontal and 100 degrees vertical. Also, ask for accessories like pivoting frames. 4. Size: bigger is better, but with flat panel, remember 15-inch screen gives you the experience of a 17-inch CRT monitor. If you can shell out for 17-inch flat panel, by all means, go for it, if not, a 15-inch screen should not be a downer. Other things to check when buying a flat panel are guarantees and warranties. Haven't you ever had time you wanted to get away from it all? In March/April 1978, motherearthnews published a story about a couple who bought McLeod's Island — a 90-acre island off the coast of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. They have a few animals, spend very little on groceries, and are pretty well sustained by the island itself. Although it does present them with some challenges: "The sea, you know, is not called "restless" for nothing. A glass-smooth bay (as we've learned so well!) can churn-sometimes seemingly in seconds-into a windswept chaos of currents and combers. We've also seen that same bay (the one in which our island is located) thaw and then completely refreeze in just hours on a single December day. Winters up here can be especially variable. Continual spring-like thaws throughout 1976's cold season, for instance, kept our bay filled with slushy ice that was too thick to push a boat through ... but too dangerous for even a fox to walk on. We were marooned for three full months, from the first of January until the end of March. Last winter's record cold snap, on the other hand, filled the bay so solidly with pack ice that we could hike back and forth to the mainland for our mail and toboggan loads of supplies any time we wanted." It is relatively simple to make a Web site look like the legitimate site by mimicking the HTML code or by framing parts of the pages. Many people fall victim to email scams designed to steal log-in information for accounts such as PayPal, eBay, online banking accounts and more. Scammers send emails to every address they can obtain so you may receive these even if you dont have an account with the targeted enterprise, site or company. The scam emails keep getting better and better in their appearance. You may receive an email that pretends to be sent from eBay. The email will have all the appropriate logos and will often be formatted in the same way. The links within the email can even appear to be directed to legitimate pages within eBay. For example, e-mails supposedly from eBay claim that the user's account is about to be suspended unless they clicked on the provided link and updated the credit card information. Recently I received an email claiming to be from PayPal. It appears to be a receipt for an eBay purchase that I know nothing about. The subject line is "Receipt for Your Payment" The body of the email included a description of the ebay item that had allegedly been purchased using my PayPal account. Below that was a notice that said: Note: If you haven't authorized this charge, click the link below to dispute transaction and get full refund I wonder how many people receiving a similar email would quickly click on the link provided in order to contest the charges. OK, I know to be cautious with this sort of thing so I did not click on anything in the email. Instead I went to PayPal on my own and logged in. Guess what? There is no record there of the purchase! Then I started looking at the formatting of the email. When I viewed the properties of the message I found that it was actually from a takethatfanclub sender and NOT paypal. Just because it says that it is from such and such at the top of the email doesn't always mean that is who it is from. The "From" name in an email can easily be altered. This email was formatted more like a received payment PayPal email than it was an actual receipt. I looked at all of my other emails titled "Receipt for your payment" and not one of the others was formatted like this one. Other types of scams that involve PayPal usually involve a message about unauthorized access attempts. The sender will tell you that someone has tried to get into your account. As a result your account is in danger of being "frozen". However if you click the link in the email (You are told) you will be able to enter your password to avoid the loss of your account. Naturally, those unfortunate enough to give their log in information will have given it to strangers. Remember that this is not limited to PayPal. Users of Storm Pay, e gold, eBay and more will see similar emails. Watch out for scams like this that are designed to trick you into submitting information (like passwords) to allow the sender to access your account. Whenever you receive any suspicious messages go to your account via a new browser and by typing in the url. Never click a link in an email that is supposed to take you to your PayPal account. If you make that the rule then your account information (and funds!) will be much safer. If you believe that you have provided sensitive financial information about yourself or any accounts through a phishing scam, you should: - Contact your financial institution or account immediately - Contact the three major credit bureaus and request that a fraud alert be placed on your credit report.
